BAIL BONDS PROCESSS IN MENDOCINO COUNTY
In Mendocino County, the jail is operated by the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department. The detention facility is rated to house up to 364 inmates.
When someone is arrested in Mendocino County, they will be transported to the Mendocino County Jail for booking. This will include fingerprinting, photographs, background checks and warrant search. The arrestee will be searched for any contraband or drugs and a medical exam may be conducted, if necessary. Their property will be logged and held until their release from the jail. A bail amount will be set according to the Mendocino County bail schedule. Once the arrestee is completely booked into the system, they can have someone post bail for them. This can be done by either paying the bail amount in full with cash or cashier’s check, or with the help of a licensed bail bondsman.
If they are not bailed out of jail, the defendant will remain in jail for the duration of their case. During the arraignment, the judge may decide to either reduce the bail amount or allow the defendant to be released on their own recognizance. There are also instances where the judge will deny bail and remand the defendant into custody.
